A laptop or a laptop computer is a small personal computer that is powered by a small battery.  It usually weighs 1 to 8 kilograms.  Many office workers these days are using their laptop as their source for computing with the use of an external mouse, monitor and keyboard when they are in the office, and using the organic scree, keyboard and pointing device of the laptop when traveling.

Usually, laptops run on single main battery that is rechargeable or form external AC/DC adapter which charges the battery while supplying power to the laptop.  The Batteries of laptop usually last from 2 to 5 hours between charges.  The new technology for batteries is set to extend the batteries useful life by 3 or 4 times factors.  Most of the laptops these days also have Button Cells batteries which run the clock and stores the bios of the computer.  Most laptops also holds image of the main operating system which can be used to restore the functionality after commuting disaster such as a virus attack.

A laptop contains components similar to desktop counterparts.  They also perform similar functions but they are miniaturized for mobile use.  They are low in weight and they have efficient consumption of power.
